Structured Document 2.2 for Plone3 is unleashed. This test demonstrates what you can do with a fresh Plone install containing only the "sd" package. Get ready !

My first chapter
A chapter is a subdivision of a Structured Document. It behaves also like a folder and can contain paragraphs. Topic/SmartFolder, Folder and SimpleChapter can be used as chapter. They get a tab and Ajax method to change their way to be rendered inside the page.

Alright... Let's get serious. In this chapter, we'll add several basic plone items, so we can see how it looks like !

Ok ! Then, why not taste the Ajax goodies ? This is a batched folder, displaying 2 items at a time. The number of items is confgiurable, of course. You can have as many batches in the page as you want.

Before beginning the document itself, we have the possibility to add what we could call a "synopsis". It's a totally optional field allowing you to define what's inside the document. Here, we'll talk about Structured Document, so, heh, let's define it :

Structured Document is a content type allowing people to structure their document into chapter then into paragraphs. The content type "Structured Document" behaves just like a folder, except that the content is rendered inside the document view, in order to get a rich and complex layout.

A paragraph

A paragraph is the level just below the chapter. It allows you to structure your document into coherent bits, that can be handled separately. Any basic Plone content type can be used as a paragraph.

Yet another paragraph

You can then pile up your paragraphs... The administrator can easily manage their order thanks to inline links without reloading the page. A SimpleParagraph can contain an embedded image, placeable on the right or on the left. It can be visualised thanks to an Ajax Popup.

INSTALLATION

This is a python package, meant to live in your $instance/lib/python.
To install the product :

Note : '$instance' is the path where your Zope instance lives (eg. /var/zope2.10/instances/my-instance)

uncompress the archive in the $instance/lib/python folder or get the last svn version with the following command in your $instance/lib/python : svn co https://svn.plone.org/svn/collective/StructuredDocument/trunk/ sd

add a file named sd-configure.zcml in the $instance/etc/package-includes folder

this file must contain : <include package="sd.app" />
